Steam Jacketed Swivels For applications involving asphalt, sulfur,m waxes, resins, and similar products where relatively high temperatures must be maintained, steam jacketed swivels are often used. Any OPW fabricated steel or stainless steel swivel joint can be jacketed. These swivels feature full steel jackets on the elbow portions only. Conductive heat from the jacketed elbows sufficiently heats the seal area of the swivel joint, which is generally insulated in the field. In very critical applications, the seal area of the swivel can also be jacketed. Standard steam connections are 3/4" FNPT. Steam is not the only medium that can be used. Oil, water, glycol, etc., can also be recirculated through jacketed swivel joints to heat, or in some cases cool, the product. |
