The Model KL60H
Turbo-Toc® is a 60 GPM, Kidney Loop, Pressure Coalescence Turbine Oil Conditioner that continuously pumps oil from the main turbine reservoir, cleans and dries the turbine oil, and returns the turbine oil, under pressure, to the reservoir. It is designed for continuous, 24/7, operation and is engineered with continuous operation rated components. The KL60H is capable of maintaining "Reservoir Cleanliness" on a reservoir sized between 3,601 - 7,200 gallons.
The Turbo-Toc® is a self-contained, skid mounted, micro-processor controlled, full status control panel, pressure coalescence system that features an automatic water drain and a totalizing water meter to help your power plant monitor water removal and/or predict critical maintenance.

BENEFITS OF USING THE KLM60 TURBO-TOC® SYSTEM:
- Cleaner Turbine Oil
- Reduced Bearing Failures
- Fewer Forced Outages
- Easy to Operate

PERFORMANCE
Solid Contamination Removal - The TURBO-TOC® removes particulate contamination in phases:PHASE I - 30 mesh cleanable strainer to protect pump; PHASE II - beta 6 > 200 {beta 7(c) = 1000} (tested per ISO 16889) pre-filter for particulate removal; PHASE III - beta 3 = 200 {beta 5(c) = 1000} (tested per ISO 16889) final filter for particulate removal.
Water Removal - The TURBO-TOC® system combined with a vapor extractor can achieve dryness levels from 30 ppm - 150 ppm given the water ingression does not exceed 5,000 ppm. TURBO-TOC® systems without vapor extractors can achieve dryness levels of 75 - 150 ppm. (oil viscosity must be ISO 32 with temperatures of 100ᄚF - 140ºF) NOTE: Oil samples are to be taken on the inlet to the TURBO-TOC® to determine water content. Oil samples taken on the outlet are not representative of the condition of the oil in the reservoir.
Reservoir Cleanliness - For maximum total main turbine lube oil system cleanliness, the entire contents of the reservoir must be processed at a minimum of once every two hours. Kaydon cannot provide the performance with an undersized system.
DETAILED SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
The KLM60H is conveniently skid mounted for portability. The unit has provisions for lift truck forks. The drip pan is equipped with two(2) 1.5" drain ports. The skid dimensions are height - 88", width - 80", depth - 76", dry weight - 5,000 lbs., total amp draw (460 VAC) - 37 amps.
Inlet Connection - 2" ANSI 150# Raised Face flange with ball valve for isolation.
Suction Strainer - 2" cleanable 30 mesh basket type strainer with vacuum switch. When the strainer clogs or another type of restriction creates a 10" - 13" Hg vacuum on the suction side of the pump, the system will automatically shut-down and an alarm will be displayed on the touch screen.
Pump - 60 gpm gear pump with internal relief valve set at 90 psig. The rate of flow of the pump is driven by a 5 HP, 460VAC, TEFC motor (other voltages are available) that is regulated via a variable frequency drive and PLC.
Low Flow Shut Down - In the event that the flow to the TURBOTOC ᄄ decreases to less than 20 gpm, the unit will automatically shut-down to prevent damage to the pump. The Touch Screen will display that the system experienced a low flow shut-down.
Heater - The heater increases the temperature of the oil 15 degrees per pass with a watt density of 16. If the oil temperature is less than 100ᄚF, the heater must be turned "on" via the Touch Screen. When the oil temperature reaches 100ᄚF, then the heater will automatically turn off.
Sample Port #1 - An inlet fluid sample port is provided to allow fluid samples to be taken to determine the oil cleanliness in the reservoir. Use this sample port to analyze fluid cleanliness. Only use the outlet sample port to determine efficiency of the system.
Filter #1 - This is the prefilter equipped with two(2) Kaydon Model K1000 filter elements. These elements are tested per ISO 16889 and are rated at beta 6 > 200 {beta 7(c) = 1000} (tested per ISO 16889). The elements are protected with internal by-pass valves set at 40 psid. The vessel is built per the latest ASME Code. The vessel is fitted with a davit lift for easy element removal, automatic air release valve, and oil drain ball valves.
Filter #2 - This is the water removal filter equipped with eight(8) Model K2000 coalescer elements and four(4) Model K3000 separator elements. The water is coalesced into large water droplets by the coalescer elements and the droplets of water settle by gravity to the bottom of the vessel. The separator allows the clean oil to pass through, but does not allow the coalesced water droplets to pass through. As the water accumulates in the vessel, it will be seen in the water sight glass located on the side of the Filter #2. When the water accumulates to a preset level, then the automatic water drain will automatically drain the water. The amount of water drained from the system is totalized and can be displayed on the Touch Screen.
Filter #3 - This is the prefilter equipped with two(2) Kaydon Model K4000 filter elements. These elements are tested per ISO 16889 and are rated at beta 3 > 200 {beta 5(c) = 1000} (tested per ISO 16889). The elements are protected with internal by-pass valves set at 40 psid. The vessel is built per the latest ASME Code. The filter is fitted with a davit lift for easy element removal, automatic air release valve, and oil drain ball valves.
Outlet Connection - 1.5" ANSI 150# Raised Face flange with ball valve for isolation.
Touch Screen Control Panel with Emergency Stop Button - The Touch Screen is an easy to use, easy to understand screen that is operated by just the touch of a finger. All of the functions of the system is operated with the Touch Screen. Starting, stopping and turning the heater on is accomplished through the Touch Screen. All of the parameters of the system such as filter differential readings, pump pressure, total water removed, and alarm indications are located on the Touch Screen. The only button on the panel is the Emergency Stop button that will shut the system down when depressed.
The TURBO-TOC® Advantage
Patented Water Removal Process The TURBO-TOC® utilizes a patented pressure/coalescence water removal process specifically designed for turbine oil. Utilization of the TURBO-TOC® Technology insures maximum particulate and water removal from turbine oil. The water removal process is patented (Patent # 4,892,667) Performance Kaydon recommends that the TURBO-TOC® process the turbine oil at a rate of 50% per hour. (one turn every two hours). At a 50% process rate, the cleanliness of the oil will be maintained to ISO 21/16/13 (ISO 4406) or less and the water will be kept at 150 ppm or less. Based on an initial water concentration of 5,000 ppm or less, the TURBO-TOC® will reduce the water content to 150 ppm and maintain the level of 150 ppm. This is based on a reservoir size of 7,200 gallons or less. (oil viscosity must be ISO 32 with temperatures of 100ᄚF - 140ᄚF).
Manufactured in USA
Kaydon manufactures the TURBO-TOC® system in Greeneville, TN. The filter elements are manufactured in LaGrange, GA.
Three Year Warranty
The TURBO-TOC® is warranted for three years. 1st year: parts & labor, 2nd and 3rd year: parts only.
Start-Up Assistance
Included in the purchase price of the TURBO-TOC® is a one-day start-up assistance by a Kaydon Service Engineer. The Service Engineer insures the system is properly installed and plant personnel are trained.
