Maintaining EHC Systems require more diligence and a different set of technologies than maintaining mineral oil systems. Most OEM's specify the use of a pure phosphate ester fluid, like Fyrquel.
The margin of error on phosphate ester fluids is smaller than mineral oils. If the oils start to degrade, they may rapidly produce deposits requiring fluid replacement and expensive system flushes. However, if these fluids are properly maintained, they will provide high performance for the life of the EHC system.

ICB® removes soluble contaminants, from acids to metal salts, without adding dangerous sub-micron particulate. With several times the holding capacity of competing acid-scavenging technologies, ICB® lasts longer and is more effective. Our ICB® clean oil technology has more than 20 million hours of operational success. The ICB® filters are designed to replace existing acid scavenging filters in EHC systems.
EHC Systems that do not currently have an acid scavenging system or use alternative fluid chemistry, may require a custom skid that includes the ICB® technology. Alternative fluids include polyol esters, polyalkyl glycols or additized phosphate esters.

Fullers Earth acid scavenging
- Made from magnesium oxide and hydroxide, processed from attapulgus clay or attapulgite

Selexsorb acid scavenging
- Made from purified activated Alumina as a Y-Zeolite
- Removes acid but re-contaminates your fluid
-Sodium, aluminum, silicon
-Recommend running ICP scan for dissolved metals
- These by products react with fluid to cause soft gel deposits
- Gels increase friction and restrict flow
- Cause reliability issues
- Selexsorb has a radial flow design as to an axial flow
- Housing design not as robust as EPT
